Changing our own game

Yay! It is picture book month. Today’s book is The Bad Seed c) 2017 Written by Jory John and illustrated by Pete Oswald. This book subtly explores how a traumatic experience may result in a personality change for the worse. But in this story the “bad seed” is working on being better. One lesson is that we have the power to change ourselves. And the other lesson is that people label us but we can break their label if we want.

Your picture book to know for today! Me and You and the Red Canoe by Jean E. Pendziwol with pictures by Phil.c) 2017 During the early hours of the morning a successful trout fishing expedition in a red canoe is imparted through verse. The pictures are soft and gorgeous. They capture the dawning beauty of the day. Lovely book.

That cozy feeling!

I love this story because at the end it captures that happy feeling of reading with someone else. THAT truly can be the BEST place to read!

Reversal of weak and strong

Happy picture book month! This delight uses the mechanism whereby the prey (zebra) ends up rescuing the predator (lion). The familiar storytelling motif is accompanied by terrific stanzas within the framework of a circus.
